Vote Now: Player of the Month

Betfred Super League’s Player of the Month vote for May is now open!

Based on rounds five to eight, you can choose your Player of the Month for May from the six-man shortlist below. So, who gets your vote?

Jordan Abdull (Hull KR)

The Rovers number six has been instrumental in his team’s resurgence on the field. As Hull KR’s go to man, Abdull has his fingerprints on everything they do well. In the past four rounds, he has recorded five try assists, two tries and 20 attacking kicks, as well as collecting 7 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel points for his individual performances in May.

Jackson Hastings (Wigan Warriors)

Hastings influence at the Warriors cannot be understated. The half-back has created five tries in the past four games, as well as kicking a crucial drop-goal which earned Wigan a hard-fought victory away at his old side Salford. The 2019 Man of Steel has also climbed the 2021 leaderboard after missing the opening two rounds and has been awarded 5 points in May.

Jonny Lomax (St Helens)

The overall leader on the Man of Steel leaderboard, Lomax acquired 6 Man of Steel points in May. He has been an integral part of St Helens success in recent years and has continued his form into 2021. He has set up six tries in the last four rounds and made 334 metres from 46 carries, emphasising his running threat in a deadly Saints attack.

Sam Tomkins (Catalans Dragons)

Tomkins has been a key to the Catalans Dragons undefeated run in May. The experienced full-back dictates his sides attack and is a huge influence on the Dragons ever improving performances. He’s scored two tries and set up four more from three appearances in May, and currently sits second overall in the Man of Steel leaderboard having picked up 5 points in his last three matches.

Joe Westerman (Wakefield Trinity)

Westerman is the only forward to feature in May’s shortlist and has been a standout performer in an improving Trinity side. He has a try and try assist to go with his 141 tackles and 477 metres in May, as well as tallying six Man of Steel points in his last four games. His influence with ball in hand around the middle third has helped Trinity to two wins in May, following a difficult start to 2021. Head coach Chris Chester has hailed Westerman’s performances as he urges Shaun Wane to consider him for an England recall.

Gareth Widdop (Warrington Wolves)

Widdop is another player making his second consecutive appearance in the Player of the Month shortlist following another impressive spell for the Wolves. The experienced playmaker notched up five tries in May – including a hat-trick against Castleford in round seven – along with two try assists. He’s showcased his varying skillset during the past month, making 14 tackle busts, 15 attacking kicks and a 40/20 as he looks to take his Warrington side back to the summit of Super League.
